I’m Gigi La Rita, a Los Angeles based Director, Writer, Producer, and Designer. 

 

I bring a unique perspective to the stories I tell, primarily focusing on themes of feminism, sexuality, and mental health–all told through a lens of magic or magical realism. After studying both Film Production and Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University, I have gained skills in conceptualizing and managing a project from idea to edit.

 

Film has always been my biggest source of magic and inspiration.

 

I believe there is so much magic in this world that we don’t see because we’re too busy looking at the mundane. No matter what kind of project I’m working on, I always include moments of magic—whether it’s through dream sequences, surrealism, or practical effects.

 

However, it is not just magic I seek to capture; tonally, I aspire to combine these magical elements with quiet and intimate portrayals of human experience and emotion—showing that the magic and the mundane are inseparable. By marrying the otherworldly with the intimate, I am proud of the distinct voice I have developed as an artist and of my ability to bring to life the films I’d like to see myself.
